WHAT AMERICA NEEDS IS A HEART TRANSPLANT
Renewed Hearts vs. Renewed Ballot Boxes

Most patriotic and Christian Americans are stunned at what our leaders, both elected and appointed, are intentionally doing to this country. These are primarily godless people who loathe capitalism even though it is the only system that works in any country on the planet. So, much of America watches as the Left forces socialism (or Marxism) on us, destroys our economy, and couldn't care less what the American people think. They have no shame and virtually boast about their corruption. It seems to be a badge of honor.
But such behavior is not just a Democrat or Republican issue. The depravity of human beings is cross-denominational, cross-cultural, and affects every human being. Our very nature is fallen and those we esteem most highly can succumb to anything as a result. Corruption, greed, and selfishness are equal-opportunity character flaws.
But the "flaws" in America's leaders are, for some reason, "on display" before the entire world now. Of course they don't compare to a Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, or the mullahs of several violent nations, or the leaders who throw Christians into the gulags of North Korea. Those men are absolute evil.
Yet something is seriously wrong with some of America's people in high places. They have shut God out of everything. They mock and scorn Him. They laugh at righteous values.
America was built on the premise that our government derives it legitimacy from the "consent of the governed," but I guess that is now history. Many of America's leaders now want a secular humanist socialist machine running our nation with an agenda so corrupt it is staggering. For many, their god is government and others consider themselves a god. Their conscience is seared. Their heart has grown ice cold.
I believe God is allowing this to happen as a way of showing humanity that it needs a heart transplant. It has now been proven true -- although history has reminded us for centuries -- that the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. Today mankind does what is right in his own eyes. The Bible is not the standard. We can see how man is born a selfish sinner who must first be taught right from wrong. But God, because of His mercy, still reaches down and touches many. He transforms the lives of the most wretched every day!
Much of mankind is parading around like selfish fools. This is outlined in the Bible just as all else that is happening in our world is scripted in the Bible. Today's haughty and proud seem to be outlined in Romans 1:28-32: And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, malice, full of envy, murder, strife, deceit. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.
I guess that covers just about every negative character trait known to man! God seems to be shining a light on these people so they stand out in today's world as an exaggeration. But their character flaws are not exaggerations! Their characters are in need of a heart transplant. They need a Savior who promises to rescue them out of their selfish, greedy pit.
We all want to "save America." But too often the interpretation of "saving America" is turning more blue states into red states! Many don't understand that changing America's political parties is not enough to turn the nasty tide.
People are missing the root of the problem. Even if political conservatives win every election in 2010 and 2012, without a "heart change," our country will not recover. God is looking for renewed hearts and not renewed ballot boxes -- which is not a put-down of our civic duty to vote and support our Constitution. God established government, but He also made it clear that man seldom carries it out properly. He will when He rules from Jerusalem.
Two hundred years ago, philosopher Edmund Burke said -- and I paraphrase -- all that is necessary for evil to prosper is for good people to do nothing. Do what you can to turn the political tide, but remember that transforming the hearts of men is what is needed first.
If God was gracious enough to save you, He can reach the hearts of the most pompous politicians who are scheming evil plans for America behind closed doors and in dark, smoke-filled rooms. God can melt the hardest heart.

The “Abomination” of Harry Potter
The “Abomination” of Harry Potter

I’ve got some great ideas for a new series of children’s books. Let me share some of them with you:
1) Perry Hotter and the Dirty Crack Pipe- A young boy is shipped off to live in an inner-city crack house. In this crack house, the boy is trained in the ways of illicit drug production, use, and distribution. Perry has wonderful adventures learning about creating more effective highs, outwitting the bad crack dealers, and teaching other young kids about the joys of drug use.
2) Perry Hotter and the Jihadist’s Bomb-belt- A young boy is shipped off to an Al Qaeda training camp. At this training camp, the boy is trained in the covert practices of subverting American laws, developing dirty bombs, and using a sword to cut off an infidel’s head. Perry’s amazing exploits include evading U.S. spy planes, purchasing nuclear materials from Chechen rebels, and developing jihadist literature to share with his friends at school.
3) Perry Hotter and the Prostitutes of Pleasure- A young boy is shipped off to a secretive brothel in Eastern Europe. While living in this brothel, the boy is taught all of the most effective pimping techniques. Perry’s feats include seducing poor Russian girls with offers of employment in the west, bribing dirty police officers to look the other way, and exposing other children to the pleasures of earning a living by selling their bodies.
What do you think? You’re shocked?! You’re outraged?! How could I even suggest a book series for children containing such vile and filthy material?
To be sure, I think that these are all commonsense and appropriate responses to the evil subject matter detailed in my imaginary book series. How could anyone, yet alone a Bible believing Christian, think that this is appropriate subject matter for a series of children’s books? You don’t have to look very far into scripture to find that illegal drug abuse, terrorism, and sexual exploitation are all topics that break the heart of God.
However, while my imaginary series of children’s books, featuring these demonic evils, would be condemned outright by any God-fearing person, there is currently a real children’s book series on the market, filled with equally dangerous and unbiblical evils, that is being bought by the millions, even by Christian families. This is the Harry Potter series, which has recently released a new book, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. In its first day of sales alone, this newest addition to the Harry Potter series sold almost 7 million copies; and will probably sell upwards of 15 million+ by the time it’s all said and done. While this reality should shock and disturb our society, what we find instead is widespread praise for the “magic” of Harry Potter and how he has “enchanted” millions of kids into reading. What’s even more disturbing is the vast number of Christian children and parents flocking into bookstores to buy their family a copy, while our pastors remain silent about the dangers found within Harry Potter’s pages.
The Harry Potter series is wholly based on the dark arts of witchcraft, sorcery, and spiritism. These are all Satanic practices that are absolutely condemned by God throughout the Bible. In Deuteronomy 18:9-14, God tells us that these practices are an “abomination” in God’s sight. In Galatians 5:19-21, God says that sorcery is a “work of the flesh” and that those who practice sorcery “will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.” And Revelation 22:15 tells us that sorcerers will not be present in the glorious city of the New Jerusalem.
Christian brothers and sisters, if God condemns the activities glorified in the Harry Potter series, and if by God’s standards Harry Potter himself will spend eternity separated from God, how can we as believers ever justify the purchasing of any Harry Potter book? How can we justify allowing our children, the children God calls us to raise “in the training and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4), to read books that revel in such clearly unbiblical practices? We would never allow our children to read stories that glorify illegal drug abuse, murder, or sexual exploitation, so why do we lower the standards when it comes to witchcraft and sorcery?
Being “salt and light” to the world (Matthew 5:13-16) sometimes requires that we as believers take a stand against things that the world defines as popular, cool, and even beneficial. No matter how many Harry Potter books are sold, no matter how much acclaim Harry Potter receives, and no matter how great people think it is that Harry Potter has caused kids to put down their video games to read a book, sorcery will always be an “abomination” in God’s eyes. And if God views the subject matter of Harry Potter as an abomination, then we as Christians have no choice but to do likewise.

With that said, Brannon believes Glenn has now moved into an area where we must draw a clear line theologically and doctrinally. While Christians can join Glenn in opposing tyranny, socialism, cultural Marxism, and the like, Christians should not buy into Glenn's pluralism, pushing event on August 27th at the Kennedy Center. Glenn's website describes the event as "Glenn Beck's Divine Destiny" and states that the event will include "uplifting music, nationally-known religious figures from all faith will unite…" Glenn's website also promotes Glenn's "Daily Spiritual Thought" and "join Glenn Beck live each weekday morning at 7:05a ET for prayer." Why must we respectfully and lovingly tell Glenn we cannot agree with him nor find common ground in the area of Biblical doctrine and theology? Topic Two: Is Glenn now using his TV program to push his Mormon faith? Glenn has the right to push his Mormon faith on TV but Glenn needs to be upfront about it. On his program on August 18th, Glenn brought up the topic of the Bat Creek stone found in a Native American burial mound in Tennessee in 1889. While proclaimed by many experts as a fraud, some believe the stone contains a Paleo-Hebrew inscription. The program was rather strange and many bloggers and supporters of Glenn found the program strange. However, one self-described Mormon commenting on a blog site stated that as a Mormon this was interesting and would be of interest to Glenn Beck since he is a Mormon. The Mormon Church teaches that Native American Indians are descendants of a lost tribe of Israel. Thus a stone found in a Native American Indian burial mound with a Hebrew inscription would be of interest to Glenn and other Mormons but Glenn should be transparent with his audience and explain why this is of interest to him. Topic Three: Why will you not find a cross on the top of or inside of a Mormon Church? Why do Mormons use water and not red wine or red juice when observing the Lord's Supper? Why do Mormons say the cross and blood of Jesus Christ is foolishness? Topic Four: The point of today's program is that Christians need to be wise and not fall into the trap of compromising on the Gospel of Jesus Christ in an effort to be politically correct, tolerant and find religious unity with anti-Biblical beliefs and religions. We appreciate the strong and courageous stands that Glenn has taken but Christians understand that Glenn is now, by his own choice, promoting something that is not compatible with Biblical Christian doctrines. We can be co-belligerents on many moral issues with non-Christians but we cannot find common ground theologically and doctrinally. Christians must understand that the Jesus of the cults is not the Jesus of the Bible. Topic Five: We take your calls. Topic Six: Here is an e-mail Brannon received today: I am an ex-Mormon who is fifth generation and my father was raised on the Joseph Smith farm in New York. I hope someone has alerted you of the Glenn Beck program aired 8/18/10. R.F.I.D. Tin foil hat material - I THINK NOT!!
For the life of me I cannot comprehend how even today, you mention about verichip, RFID and the coming govermental misuse and abuse of such technology and the FACT we ARE moving into a big brother 1984 style society-- I will continually get accused of needing "tin foil" when the subject is brought up. Really tin foil? Have you not noticed the network of cameras going up EVERYWHERE all over AMERICA, you know the supposed Land of the Free. Give me a break. YOU can deny the fact our government plans to chip humans to track their every movement, and the technology now exists that they can read complex thoughts.

Julia Roberts converts to Hinduism after filming ‘Eat, Pray, Love’

August 7, 2010 -- News comes today that when Julia Roberts was shooting the film 'Eat, Pray, Love' she reportedly made a big decision: To convert to Hinduism.
The 'Pretty Woman' actress is the daughter of a Baptist and a Catholic, says Jam Movies, who claims that while filming in India Roberts took a spiritual pilgrimage much like that of 'Eat Pray Love' author Elizabeth Gilbert.
Out of that experience, the movie star learned about yoga, meditation and reincarnation -- something in which Julia Roberts is said to now hold as her own belief.
Roberts told Elle magazine:
'I'm definitely a practicing Hindu.'
Off the set, Julia and her family chant and celebrate life -- a peaceful existence for the new believer in Hinduism who stars in 'Eat, Pray, Love'.

How to find a good church home
It's not the label on a church that makes it what it is, but the teachings and the people following Christ. Mormons say we have the name of Christ on our Church, therefore we are his Church. Anyone can put a name on the outside, and most do use the name of Christ but it’s what is on the inside that counts. A certain denomination or non denomination may often mean it has a good reputation but it is no guarantee for Biblical accuracy. Do they have the life of Christ- is His Holy Spirit indwelling the people and the congregation, is the Bible believed and being taught and practiced. We do not just look for a church that teaches the Bible but a church that teaches the Bible correctly, the whole counsel of God and having the goal to live by it.
A church is composed of numerous elements. Without putting things in order of importance, the people are the church, not the building. When looking for a church to make it your home there are certain elements necessary for it to be healthy and of God. The foremost is that they uphold the bible as their authority, being the word of God. Do they teach through the Bible, not using certain doctrines but teach the whole counsel of God. Is the church operating from Scripture as best as possible and are they feeding the sheep for growth in their spiritual lives to make them mature. Are they pursuing God's kingdom and His will for their lives as individuals and as a Church? Are they Christ centered and preaching the gospel of grace through faith alone for salvation. Are they mission-minded. Is the Church centered on the needs of its people, not neglecting its own, especially those out on the mission-field. Are sheep producing sheep which will turn into growth for the Church, or are they relying only on the leaders to do the work of the ministry. Some Churches turn over much of the ministry into the hands of the layman even if they are new to the faith. This saves them time in taking care of all the problems that arise, as well as money to pay for more ministers. The Bible teaches us not to do this, that one must be mature in the teachings of Christ as well as having maturity as persons, we are not to let a novice teach. There needs to be a balance in this philosophy of ministry. While many are attracted to opportunities to being in ministry in the long run if a church is this open it causes problems. The leaders are to be proven men of the faith adhering to the Biblical requirements.
Is there prayer for the needs of people and open for anyone to join in. Do they accept you for who you are without conditions and are willing to help you mature in Christ. Is giving freely encouraged or is there coercion on tithing and raising money. Are there open record where the money goes.
Is the gospel proclaimed regularly from the pulpit and people encouraged to share the gospel outside the assembly. Are they teaching the essentials of the faith to the new believers and right doctrine and practice for the mature to find their purpose in God (1 Tim.4:6, 13-16.) In finding a Christian church specific questions sometimes need to be answered. Such as do they accept the Bible as inerrant and infallible, that it has been preserved throughout history. Do they believe Jesus is the Son of God and what do they mean by this (almost all cults will agree with this on the outset). Is Christ fully God and fully man, did He raise from the dead bodily. Do they teach and uphold doctrine especially on the nature of Christ being God in the flesh and God being Tri-une in nature.
Do they have different weekly Bible studies one can attend so people can get to know one another and fellowship when they have time. Is there freedom in the church for people to exercise their spiritual gifts and talents to be used for each other and their community (1 Thess.5:19-20, 1 Cor.12-14). Are they looking for ministry opportunities as God moves in the lives of their individual members, are they encouraging people to pursue God's calling in their lives (1 Tim.1:9; Rom.8:28-30 Eph.2:10.)
Does the church encourage you or help you to discern and answer false religious systems (1 Jn.4:1). Do they teach how to witness to other religions, or do they feel that everyone can pursue God in any way they choose (Jude 3,1 Pt.3:15). Do they recognize the cults and are equipping people to know the differences between what is true and what is error and equipping them in apologetics to give them confidence in their witnessing to them.
Sometime one needs to ask for a history of where the church began and how. Who they are affiliated with.One may have to consult cult watch organizations for further information on their history and doctrines, it's always better to ask first before you leap. Do they belong to the National association of evangelicals or the world evangelical fellowship, are they accountable to others. Do they work with and enjoy fellowship with other churches and denominations that are sound? What books do they promote for their members to read. Wisdom is needed so one should pray for all wisdom and discernment in their decision (Phil.1:9), so that you don’t spend your time there and find out later what you should have known beforehand.
Choosing a Church may take time and sometimes caution may be necessary. A church is to be friendly but we can first be easily attracted to the warmth and friendliness of the people and later find they are theologically off. It’s best to ask for a statement of faith, a creed and history, as well as questions before joining. Some faith statements do not mean what they say so one needs to ask deeper questions if there is any doubts. Best to know beforehand than invest your time and find out later. (The Mormons articles of faith sound on the surface as evangelical but are deceptive). Do they have a public Statement of Faith? Beware when a church says their statement of faith is the Bible and that is all they have (such as the International churches of Christ). You can consult various books such as Elwell's Evangelical Dictionary of Theology, The Encyclopedia of American Religions by J. Gordon Melton or even the Dictionary of Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements by Burgess, Magee, and Alexander for further research on certain groups and movements.
If you find a church that is actively pursuing these things then you have probably found a healthy environment for your spiritual growth in Jesus Christ- you have found a good church home. Every church has a different flavor and one can find two churches that may teach the same things but have a different philosophy in how they do ministry. This can sometimes be a personal preference for you as an individual. Some believe in gifts some do not, some have differences in eschatology. Some churches believe in using instruments in their worship others do not. Some sing the old hymns others sing new songs with different styles of music. Again this becomes all personal preference as we look to find a Church home. One must see if they are using worship and praise songs or entertainment to hype the people up to keep coming back. If there is room to grow and serve and the people love and genuinely care, that’s a good place to be. We need to be in a place that we can grow together in and be used of God, not just fellowship or have things to do.
Remember that the people are the church, not a certain denomination, group or church building. Those who hold to the core doctrines without aberrations are in the body of Christ and we should accept them and be in unity with them.
